On Tuesday the 28th of March Alice, Scarlett, Evie, Elissia, George and Lily- Mai represented our school at the William De Ferrers School Sports Partnership Key Step Gymnastic competition. All schools across the Partnership were invited to attend but only four Infant schools took up the challenge Sunnymede, Downham, St Peter’s and Hilltop Infant School.
The children had to perform two vaults independently and then worked together to present a short synchronised gymnastic routine including set elements. They were amazing! The judges scrutinised every part of the performance and awarded them second place.
Thank you so much to the parents who transported their children to this event.
On Thursday the 30th of March 9 girls attended A football tournament at Waterside Leisure Centre. Roxanne, Angel, Holly, Sophie, Casey, Emily, Isabella, Isabelle and Amelia were split into teams with children from other schools. The children then played mini games against the other teams.
The event was organised by Essex County Football Association.
The children had amazing stamina and played brilliantly.
Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who transported the girls to this event.
To all the people who collected Sainsbury’s vouchers. We exchanged them for new equipment in the summer and have just received this extra parcel!
On Tuesday the 22nd of November 10 children attended Bromfords Secondary school to participate in a Football Festival.
Roxanne, Brody, Tate, Jamie, Luke, George, Arthur, Alan, Kai and Ronnie participated in two teams. The children participated in some warm up activities and then played games against Grange, North Crescent, Oakfield and Abacus.
The event was organised by Mrs Ford from School Sports Partnership and Clive from Wickford Town Football Club.
The children played brilliantly and were a real credit to the school. Thank you to all the parents who transported to this event.
On Tuesday the 18th of October 2016 12 children – Evie, Kai, Ronnee, Alan, Bella-Lee, Lexie, Daisy, Roxanne, Beau, Joshua and Alfie attended The Wickford Mini Athletics event at Bromfords Secondary School. They were accompanied by Mrs Marsh and Mrs Thompson.
After a stick toffee warm up game the children tried so hard at the different activities – shuttle runs, throwing, standing long jump and speed bounce. Finally there were two relay races, one for Year 1 and another for Year 2.
They all tried their very best. Some of our children also achieved some special awards for their individual efforts. Evie got 3rd place for Year 2 girls, Alfie 2nd place for Year 1 boys, Luke and Alan got 1st place for Year 2 boys.
Thank you to the grown-ups for transporting children to and from the event.
On Thursday the 30th of June Isabelle, Holly, Anna, Archie, Daisy and Lily- May represented our school at the Essex Primary Key Steps Gymnastics KS1 event which was part of the Summer Games organised by the Active Essex team. We were invited to represent the William De Ferrers Partnership because we had won their competition.
After an opening ceremony with schools all across Essex who were participating in a variety of events we went into the gymnasium. The children once again had to perform two vaults independently and then worked together to present a short synchronised gymnastic routine including set elements. They were amazing! The judges scrutinised every part of the performance, awarding them a score of 91.7 which means Hilltop Infant school came 10th. Archie received the highest points in the whole competition for his vault. This is the first time our school has got through to this level and we are very proud of them. They will perform their routine at Sports Day.
Thank you once again to the parents who transported their children to this event and stayed to support us.
